In 2016-2017 our company carried out the works to refurbish the thermal insulation of the SIO bottom beams of the continuous furnace with walking beams. The works were conducted according to a formerly developed modern technology project, and the first stage was to remove an old (partially destroyed) beam lining. The dismantling was carried out carefully, so as not to damage the metal structures and mechanisms of the beams. The second stage was to mark and weld the refractory anchors onto the fixed beams of the furnace. These beams were lined by the refractory fiber and the fire-resistant paper, with further applying a layer of refractory concrete. The third stage in the refurbishing of thermal insulation was the lining of vertical movable beams by the refractory concrete. This stage was one of the most complicated. Concrete pouring has passed with special caution, so as not to damage the working mechanisms of the movable beams of the furnace. Refractory concrete was poured into the concrete forms under the certain pressure using special equipment. After drying, this concrete becomes resistant to high temperatures as well as to the abrasive and mechanical impact.
