Calcium-silicate board – is a plate, based on calcium oxide and silicon dioxide, which has excellent thermal insulation properties, due to its porous structure, and is widely used as a thermal insulation layer of lining or heat shield. For instance, сalcium-silicate boards are to be installed over the hot layer (refractory concrete or brick) of the lining of furnaces and boilers. This сalcium board cannot be used instead of hot layer (front side) because due to low resistance to temperature fluctuations. Calcium-silicate board is lightweight and easily machined. It is worth pointing out that this heat-insulating plate does not contain asbestos, being an undoubted advantage in comparison with asbestos-containing materials (for instance, asbestos cardboard).
